(B)observation: As the sun moves north............
« on: April 27, 2010, 08:53:24 PM »
.............it travels a distance of one apartment per week on the backside of 417 Main St.

I took the cellphone picture on the right last week and the one on the left today.

Bonus (B)observation (can't find the photos): from my perspective, the sun sets as far south as Essex St at the Winter Solstice. It sets as far north as Passaic St exactly 6 months later.

That would place my personal Hackensack equator in the Central Avenue/Susquehanna tracks area.  8)

The Mayans would be proud.

Hey, Mr. Editor -- we have to keep the Mayans out of the picture. Their calendar calls for the end of the world on December 21, 2012.

Superman helped us out once; but, if Doomsday starts in Hackensack, I don't think that he will ever come back again. Maybe we should rename Marginal Road "Superman Road" and invite him for the street renaming ceremony on December 21, 2012.

Don't forget that there are already a Clarke Street and a Kent Street in Hackensack.

I agree - lose the Mayans. They refused to lift a finger when I asked for their help last month in setting my 3-ton sundial an hour ahead.

Homer - Superman would go for your idea on one condition: Louis St would have to be renamed Lois Lane. ;D

Better idea here.

Somebody brought up  Maiden Lane last week. When the original comic book series and TV series were popular, Lois Lane was definitely a maiden. In later years, when she and "Supey" became more shall we say active it, appears that she was no longer a maiden thus making it appropriate to change this little street to Lois Lane.

Great Caesar's Ghost!

"appears" being the operative (and indefinite) word here.

According to the following, what you are suggesting is humanly (and kryptonicly) impossible:

(Warning: rated PG for suggestively-vivid mental imagery)

By this standard, the following streets are also ruled out for Lois Lane renaming eligibility:

UNION St
JOHNSON Ave

Why wait until 5-21-2011 for the start of murder, mayhem and horrible deeds? Just pick up tomorrow's New York Post and read about all the murders, mayhem and horrible deeds you want.

I think that we can tell Harold Camping that the end of the world has been an ongoing project for years.

I do watch the old guy occasionally. For some reason I like him.  Not sure why, maybe it's because he's sincere and honest.  Even when he's wrong.

He's already predicted it before (1994 or 1995), but this time he's sure he's got the right equation.  And if he's wrong and picks another date further in the future, well that's the word of God.....

What all the clergy of all the religions haven't figured out is that there's really only ONE religion out there, the religion of God.  And what we call a Religious Faith (such as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc.), is just one chapter, one revelation, in the Book of God. All speak God's word for humanity.  As civilization advances and becomes more mature, new prophets are sent with new messages that build on the old.  Thus we have Abraham, Moses, and then Jesus, each adding more information.  Muslims would add Muhammad to that list, and the Bahai's would add their prophets.

Isn't it interesting that NONE of the major prophets has ever denounced his predecessor.  Each prophet has ony offered the kindest words of praise and reverence. None have ever said to forget that guy who came last time, that he's got it all wrong. That alone is good reason to believe that it's all real.  That the prophets are indeed sent from God to deliver his advise for humanity at each stage of the advancement of civilization.
