Description:

I purchased this brooch about 40 years ago from an estate sale along with other golfing memorabilia.  It is beautifully crafted from sterling silver marking a golfer breaking a score of 100.  The initials H.G.C. stand for the prestigious Hackensack Golf Club of which the decedent was a long time member.  The daughter was present at the estate sale and informed me that her father broke the score of 100 at the club's course just prior to WW2 breaking out in Europe.

The Hackensack Golf Club was founded in 1899 and is one of the oldest private golf clubs in the United States.   It is located in Oradell, New Jersey.

The barrel clasp works perfectly.   The back is marked "Sterling" and the piece has beautiful patina characteristic of aged silver.
