Teterboro Airport

That's what I would expect, but if you compare the two graphics on page 9 comparing decibel levels before and after, there is no change shown in Hackensack. The only obvious change is the presence of aviation noise above route 17, outlined by the green box in the graphic. I went ahead and commented on the FAA site. Regardless, I'm glad to at least not have planes flying directly over me!

I live smack on the border of Hackensack and Maywood, and the current flight path is 100% exactly direct over my house. I look forwards to having most of the planes moved to the Route 17 flight path. However, in stormy weather the planes will revert to the "direct approach" over my house. So if there is a micro-burst, and a plane comes down, I'm doomed.

Victor E Sasson:
Low-flying planes, but no photos of Hackensack

The Hackensack Chronicle's front page on June 11 carried a story on the FAA's second attempt to steer business and celebrity jets away from Hackensack University Medical Center and the high-rises along Prospect Avenue, where residents fear going out on their balconies in good weather lest they get an earful from a screaming jet headed for Teterboro Airport.

The story includes 2 photos of low-flying jets, but neither was taken in Hackensack. I guess The Record's file doesn't contain any, even though this controversy is many, many years old, and the newspaper was based in Hackensack for 110 years.

The story does include lots of belly aching from Mahwah about the new flight path, but no one from Hackensack besides Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino is quoted.

She decried the "noise pollution and danger from low-flying planes..."
