HFD Special Op lights in motion

I'm sure you've seen that big HFD Special Operations truck around town.

Whenever the alarm goes off in my building and all the HFD vehicles pull up in front, this big boy sits in the back in the E lot (first picture).

With all the lights the truck has, you KNOW it's gonna be interesting to photograph when it's in motion, so I set up the camera and tripod.

I hit the shutter when it started to move (second picture) and exposed it for 6 seconds. I had anticipated that the truck would continue out and turn left onto Ward St and go up to Union, but it stopped after about 3 or 4 seconds.

When it started backing up, I knew that it was going to turn right on Ward instead.

I had just enough time to reposition the camera and set it for a longer exposure - 15 seconds. In the third picture, you can see just how far it traveled in those 15 seconds. I had gotten a shot like this about 5 years ago that ran in The Record.

The next time, I'm gonna put that corner building in the center of the frame and hit the shutter when the truck is about halfway up Ward, so I can get all those lights wrapping around the building on both Ward and State streets.
