HACKENSACK — Police said on Monday that the man’s body pulled from the Hackensack River Sunday night had no signs of trauma.

Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo said there is no evidence that the death was anything but a tragic accident. Investigators from the police department, the medical examiner’s office and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office are trying to determine who the man is and how he died, authorities said.

Someone called police just after 5 p.m. Sunday, saying they saw a body floating down the river. The police and fire departments responded just north of the Anderson Street Bridge, where the body was spotted, Capt. Tomas Padilla said.

Firefighters in a boat pulled the body from the water.
