NATHAN S. KIRSCH AWARDS
« on: May 18, 2012, 09:25:44 AM »
Last evening my brother, Daniel S. Kirsch, and I had the pleasure of attending the annual Nathan S. Kirsch Citizenship Awards ceremony honoring eighth grade students for their achievements as good citizens in the middle school. This event is sponsored each spring by Hackensack's Alliance to Prevent Alcohol and Drug Abuse. This event was founded in 1991  by our father, Nathan S. Kirsch, former merchant and Hackensack Municipal Court Magistrate, because he had a strong faith in recognizing, rewarding, and reinforcing positive behavior by our youth.

My brother and I were impressed by four Hackensack High School students who spoke to the eighth graders about the challenges and temptations they would soon face next fall when they entered high school, and especially the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse. We were also pleased that the Superintendent of Schools and three members of the Board of Education witnessed this ceremony.
