Two-headed parking meters - Zero-headed users

WHY can't anyone figure out that the spaces only exist on either side of the meter? People, cars, even car SEATS are totally befuddled (see photos).

If you look at the car, the driver probably hit the meter pole just opening the door..............and yet it didn't register that he/she was parked right in the middle of two spaces.

Of course, I'm joking on the other two instances, but I see cars park this way in this location (first spaces on State St's northern end) every day (and not ticketed). The city is going to have to go back to painting lines on the street to indicate where the spaces are.

People are just too stupid.
