Photos: The Hackensack River Walkway at Johnson Park
« on: June 05, 2011, 04:40:27 PM »
I took a stroll over to the Hackensack River Walkway in Johnson Park on Thursday and walked north to the footbridge over the river at FDU and back.

The Walkway and area was very nice-looking, but I couldn't see much of the river because of all the foliage, so maybe I'll go back next winter. Here are some of the things I did see:

1. A naked tree (Anderson St Bridge in the lower right)

2. A robin in the naked tree

3. Three birdhouses (this is three photos in one)

4. Soccer field lights

5,6. Something emptying into the river by FDU (what is it?)

7,8. More birds

9. The Anderson St Bridge from a bit upriver

So I went back on February 1 to shoot without the foliage:

1. By the Anderson Park entrance

2. Looks like a skin condition

3. Mount Mulch

4&5. Extremes

6. Splinter group

7. Across the river at FDU

8&9. On the FDU footbridge

10. The picture postcard

Took another Walkway walk today.

Since I've already shot it a few times, I figured that I wouldn't have much to shoot today. I wound up taking 75 pictures.

I've edited them down to 27 - 3 posts' worth.

1-6. Geese and gulls. #6 is a belly landing.

7. The first robin of Spring

8. Anyone care to guess what this monster is? (found near the river)

1-2. Crew cut (side and above views)

3-4. Trees

5. This looks like a camouflaged alligator..............doesn't that look like an alligator head on the right?

6. Big piece of bark (about 4'x1')

7. Culvert under Rt 4 by Lukoil (northern end of walkway)

8. Closeup of culvert with rocks in wire confinement (what is the purpose of that?)

9. This was to the left of the wire confinement.

1. Where to unlock the secrets of the Hackensack River

2-3. On either end of the FDU pedestrian bridge over the river are two big flower pots. #2 is on the Hackensack side and #3 is on the Teaneck side.

4-5. Flora

6-7. Bikes

8. This is the monster - a plant - from 2 posts ago.

9. Since last night was the 25th anniversary of me photographing Frank Zappa at the Rothman Center, I had to take a picture of the place.

10. Back in Johnson Park, I saw this. I didn't like his chances of crossing River St safely in the middle of the block.
