now, if we can get the dips in the road fixed in the northbound left lane of main street right after Camden St, the one right after the brick pavers on union st in front of the middle school going north,&  the one on Passaic st westbound just after union st we'll be going smoothly along...

City to pave seven dilapidated streets

HACKENSACK — The paving of at least seven city streets is set to take place, according to officials.

Councilman Leonardo "Leo" Battaglia said the poor condition of the city streets has been a constant complaint for years.

"People said over and over again that they are tired of paying taxes and having to live on a block where the road is crumbling," Battaglia said. "I want people to be able to look out their windows and see a nicely paved street with new curbs. Our residents should not be embarrassed by the condition of the road in front of their homes."

Community Development Block Grants will offset the paving of five streets: Lodi Street from Green Street to Polifly Road; Lexington Avenue from Green Street to Cleveland Street; the entire length of Liberty Street; Old River Street from East Atlantic Street to Bridge Street; Berdan Place from First Street to Railroad Avenue.

Road-milling the Places (Pangborn and Conklin)
« Reply #19 on: April 19, 2016, 02:05:57 PM »
Yesterday morning, I saw this work being done on Park St, between Passaic and Anderson streets.

In the afternoon, it was Conklin (Union to Park) and Pangborn Place (Conklin to Anderson - Pictures 1 and 2). Conklin was already done before I started taking pictures from my roof.

Union St, Interrupted: Conklin's milling extended across Union St (Pictures 3 and 4) - which made all vehicles stop to navigate both edges of the lower milled area - and part of Union was later closed (Picture 5).

While I'm taking pictures, I noticed through the trees that the Anderson Park fountain was yellow-taped and coned, but I have no idea why (Picture 6). Are they gonna be milling that too?

This morning, they skipped over the rest of Union between Passaic and Anderson and started on State between Ward and Passaic, so I had a front-row seat from my living room for that. I'll post those later.

This afternoon, they're on Passaic between State and Union. I'm guessing they'll finish my block on Union tomorrow.

The Milling of State St and other activity
« Reply #20 on: April 19, 2016, 06:40:14 PM »
These are various images of this morning's activities that began at around 7:30am, including bits of the street flying past the names of two businesses on State St and its street sign. One of those pictures appears to show a steaming new dish (a mountain of black beans?) from Don Alfonso's that feeds 1000.

So much for the living room shoot............on to the roof.

Other pictures show the continued closed/detoured very small segment of Union St, the closed sign that the wind took up Conklin, and some activity by the Anderson Park fountain, which no longer is coned/taped. There were a number of workers there today, so it appeared serious, but as of 6pm, the fountain has been turned on and is ready for another year of people throwing idiotic things into it.

Paved: State/Passaic/Conklin/Anderson/Park streets
« Reply #23 on: April 30, 2016, 12:50:50 AM »
I've been inundated on all sides by the smell of asphalt for the last couple of days - State St (and part of Ward St) to the east (1), Passaic St to the south (2), Conklin Pl (3, 10), Pangborn Pl and Park St (10) to the west, Anderson St to the north (4-9).............and a guy with a truckload of traffic cones after the work is done (11).

In the 3rd picture, I appear to be a drone flying overhead. In the 6th picture, I could see something on the hood of the police car in the distance, so I enlarged it (7) and saw that it was two boxes that each say "Est. 1901" on them. Anybody know what that's about?

In the 8th picture, you'll never see two streets with better-looking, cleaner surfaces than Conklin Pl ending at Park St. In the 10th picture, I wanted to get a shot of a fully-paved Anderson St business section devoid of cars [8], but my timing was off. I shot it 2/3 done, so I asked when they might be finished and when the street would reopen to traffic. I was told 4pm and 5pm, respectively, so I went over there at 3:30 and it was already open.

Oh, well - next time (when I'm 146).
