HACKENSACK — A car accident left an NJ Transit bus sprawled at an angle Thursday on the front yard of a Passaic Street home.
The bus collided with a car at the intersection of Summit Avenue and Passaic Street at about 6 a.m., Hackensack Police Officer Richard Melber said.

The traffic signal there was operating as a red blinking light at the time. One of the vehicles ran the light, but police weren't immediately sure which, since the bus ripped the traffic signal's control box out of the ground, Melber said.

There were only four people on the bus, including the driver. They, along with the driver of the car that collided with the bus, were sent to Hackensack University Medical Center for minor injuries, Melber said.

The intersection was still closed as of 7:15 a.m. while police waited for a city electrician to repair the traffic light. Police are still investigating the crash.
