Turkey Day/Hunger site
« on: November 28, 2013, 10:25:11 AM »
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Since this is the day that we stuff ourselves silly, it's appropriate to bring this up:

Somewhere around 1999, a friend suggested that I go to www.thehungersite.com and simply click a button to donate food.

As a result, it's been the first site I've visited every morning since. No one will ever contact you in any way, so there's no excuse not to do this.

Nothing could be easier. It's the ideal charity for anyone with a computer who's on a budget and it does a world of good, so please bookmark the site and click once every day.

Thanks.

Hundreds of Bergen County families, still struggling in the lingering aftermath of the country’s Great Recession, gathered for the Thanksgiving breakfast in the basement of the Second Reformed Church. Scores of Salvation Army volunteers dished out plates of pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon and gave people turkeys as they left.
