Eagle Eye asks "WY?"
« on: August 01, 2014, 01:20:40 AM »
There's a big billboard on the first apartment building south of Sears on Main St. It advertises the 10-day New Jersey State Fair in Augusta that starts today, Augusta 1st.

So why does it depict a girl who's wearing a t-shirt that appears to say "Wyoming Cheerleading" ("Cheer" is not clear).

There was a character in an old Uncle Floyd Show bit called Jerry Jersino who used to pop a blood vessel at every perceived slight against his beloved New Jersey. This billboard would have definitely brought on apoplexy.

But wait, there's more!

On the NJ State Fair's website, Little Miss Wyoming's pic is part of a collage...

Note the slightly blurry banner in the image to her left for Centennial Farms, which is family owned since 1854.

For those who've never been there, the New Jersey State Fairgrounds' address is 37 Plains Road Augusta, NJ 07822

Centennial Farms, which has been owned by the Harold family since 1854, is in Augusta, too. Augusta, Missouri! http://centennialfarms.biz/about-us/

Wow - you, sir, are a double-Eagle Eye.

And the anti-New Jersey scandal deepens.............

Some pictures from our trip to the State Fair today...

NJ was fairly represented.  The State flag flew overhead and there was a museum-trailer featuring all of NJ's notable personalities, including Hackensack's own Wally Schirra. Tons and tons of Jersey produce, livestock and horses.

After looking at my pictures, it dawned on me how much I like old farm equipment.  Tractors, pumps, etc.  They had a barn full of cantankerous machinery, - much of it running noisily but smoothly.  I'll try to post a video later.

Our six-year old now wants to raise chickens.  She took home a brochure explaining how "easy" it is.  Any helpful advice?   You'll see a robot chasing her in one of the pictures below, looking for donations for the robot club.  Yes, this fair covered past, present and future.

No other "WY" sightings, though I wasn't searching too hard. I did see an anti-Obama lawn sign on the way out though.

Advise on chickens:  good luck getting a permit for that one in Hackensack.  hahaha.  The only remaining "farm" with a permit to raise chickens is on Essex street across from the courthouse.  And there's just a handful of chickens in the pen.  Unsure if that chicken pen is still in the back corner of the property, next to the parking lot of an office building. It was there a few years ago.

§ 52-6 Certain animals prohibited in residential districts.
No person shall raise, keep, harbor or have in any manner whatsoever any animal or fowl (except chicken hens) listed in § 52-1 within those sections of the city zoned as Residence Districts R-I, R-1A, R-2, R-2A, R-3 and R-3A under the Zoning Ordinance.

Yes, a permit is still required.

its not enforced.   there are several roosters and chickens(and all kinds of other barnyard animals) downtown.  you can hear the roosters all the time.
