The second lunar eclipse of the year was visible in northern New Jersey around 6:55 a.m this morning, almost a half-hour after the sun, moon and earth were aligned according to NYTimes.com.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth's shadow blocks all the sun's light from directly reaching the moon's surface

The eclipse made the moon look slightly reddish in color and is knowns as a blood moon.

The moon also appeared slightly larger than normal, since objects near the horizon seem bigger to the human eye.

Cloud cover in some areas obstructed the view of the moon.

Two more lunar eclipses are on the way in the next year — one on April 4 and the other on Sept. 28, CNN said.

Nope - too early for me.

Cool shot, though.
