HACKENSACK — There have been a number of studies focusing on the affects certain colors have on human behavior. Research over the years suggest that a bubblegum hue of the color pink, for example, has a calming effect on individuals resulting in a number of correctional facilities painting rooms with this vibrant color to calm and deter violent behavior.

The idea of using a specific color to conjure up an emotion or a particular behavior is not a novel concept. However, this theory was put to the test in Hackensack as a local business, Bergen Brookside Towing, became the epicenter of a social experiment involving the color pink and its affects on human behavior for a new National Geographic Channel series called "Crowd Control."
