NON-blizzard snow photos
« on: January 30, 2015, 12:38:58 AM »
Since last Saturday:

1-7. Various scenes and patterns

8. Hackensack's snowy peaks - the Rothman Center, as seen from the Teaneck side of FDU

9. The Martin Luther King statue, also from the Teaneck side of FDU

10-12. Various scenes from the Hackensack River Walkway

13. WIPER WARS!

14. Sir Edmund Hillary atop Mt. Everest near the "Pile Snow Here" sign

15. Shot from directly overhead

16. This guy had just made a pass and as he went to clear adjacent space, he shot the snow on the path he had just cleared.

17-20. A snow sculptor is working meticulously on a new creation. A half-hour later, two art lovers come by and pose for a selfie with the sculpture, but the woman gets her tongue frozen to it. A salt spreader was called in to free her, but that image is too bloody to show here.

I didn't know what the HFD and the HPD were doing around an ex-cab, but then you can see that the cop has a wire that he's apparently trying to open the driver's door with. Then the fireman gave it a go and seems to have done the job as he then walks away with the winning wire.

1. The snow sculptor in the first post actually made two of them that day. The first one - which looked more like Jabba the Hutt - also had a carrot for a nose and eyes/buttons that were too round to be lumps of coal. I was pretty sure I knew what they were.

2. When I went out the next day, I walked over there to take some closeups and to check out the "coal". Apparently, a little unlicensed surgical reconstruction/destruction had taken place overnight. Various body parts and buttons were missing or rearranged (Jabba turned into Carrot Top).

3. As suspected, the eyes/buttons were the cookie part of Oreos, which means that the white stuff wasn't snow, but rather a half-ton of delicious cream filling.

4. Four hours later, the duo were demolished. Their components were strewn about, but the carrots were gone.

5. I didn't see who did it, but there IS a suspect.

1. This kid shoveled all of THAT?

2-5. Miscellaneous

6-8. Recycling snow - dump it in and let it right back out.

The last two weeks of snowstorms
« Reply #4 on: March 04, 2015, 08:20:38 PM »
1,2. Drunken driving and drunken walking (trail zigzags from upper right corner to lower left corner)

3,4,5. Trudging through the storms

6,7,8.  Snow removal

9. Free parking?

10. Picture of blanco nada

11,12,13. You'd think that every driver in the Northeast would own an ice scraper (and gloves) by now, but I guess an old magazine is cheaper and, unfortunately, immediately disposable.

14,15. You'd think that every man and woman in the Northeast would know how to dress appropriately during Winter snowstorms by now, but.................

This winter's last snowstorm?
« Reply #5 on: March 06, 2015, 05:05:28 PM »
Yesterday, after shooting the other 346 snowstorms this winter from my living room, I wanted to shoot what may have been the last one outside during it. I wish it fell at a heavier rate for better pictures, but the wind made it a challenge..........I couldn't shoot while facing west.

1. I took one picture before I went out. Hackensack has a "Park Dept"?

2. Do NOT wade in the snow in Anderson Park.

3-6. Anderson St Station

7-10. On Anderson St

11,12. On Main St

13-16. On Passaic St.........Police cars are blocking a section of Union St to facilitate snow removal.

Don't forget that the Blizzard of '88 started on March 11 so you may still get a chance for more shots.
