Tropical Storm Hermine cloud band photo stitches - good and bad
« on: September 06, 2016, 08:35:05 PM »
Some rain bands from the now-tropical storm Hermine reached Long Island and the Jersey shore today, but at sunset, I saw this real long orange cloud that was sort of parallel to the Atlantic, that - for want of a better term - I'm calling a cloud band.

I took a 4-image photo stitch and a 5-image one that had very different results. In the first one, even though all the buildings are tilted one way or the other - the result of them being in the bottom of the frames while the program tried to connect the clouds in the upper portion - I like it..............what I was aiming for got connected and the frames lined up fairly well.

I walked over to a different part of the roof and tried it again. You can see that hardly anything lined up, including the individual frames.

At least Sears got an extra flag out of the deal.
