Union and Passaic Streets closed today

(1/2) > >>

BLeafe:
Union St was closed from Anderson St to some point south of Passaic St. for almost the entire day today, as was Passaic St from (I'm guessing) Park St to State St.

The streets were reopened sometime between 6 and 7pm. It was a bumpy ride for cars driving over the road scar, so I don't know if it was a temporary fix or if the crews will be back tomorrow.

I wasn't sure what the problem was until I saw a Suez truck (water). If anyone knows any details, feel free to post them here.

BTW - check out the bottom right guy's steering mechanism in the first photo.

a new water line is being installed from Clay St to at least Passaic St on Union St.  doing it now while school is not in session.

BLeafe:
Thanks again, Mike.

So it turns out that the road patch on Union north of Passaic WAS temporary. They were back early yesterday, but faced an immediate rain delay.

Union St was closed from Passaic to Anderson. Ward St from State to Union was also closed (second pic). The third pic shows the view straight down on Union St in front of my building, where they're storing all their goodies. Union St and Conklin Place have underground utility markings on them and I think I saw a couple on Ward St, so it looks like the water pipe will reach Anderson and maybe go up the side streets.

Besides the pipes in front of my building, they're also in front of the Second Reformed Church and on Ward St close to Union.

Union St was bumpily re-patched and open by 3pm. This will probably be going on for a while and then yet another big repaving project will be needed.

BLeafe:
Work has continued on and off between Passaic St and Anderson St.

These pix show yesterday's activity near Anderson St.

BLeafe:
As you saw in the previous post, the installation made a right turn from Union St onto Anderson as the westbound lane carried traffic in both directions.
