Unusual eastern sky sight
« on: September 27, 2017, 10:00:02 PM »
Just after 6:30pm, I saw this out my window - huge orange-ish clouds with unusual shapes and one of them had part of a rainbow in it. The same cloud also reflected off the Kipp's Bend section of the Hackensack River.

I associate rainbows with earlier rain, but we had none of that. There had to have been some moisture somewhere between the setting sun and the cloud for me to see the rainbow, so my guess is that these clouds were well off the coast where there may still be some tropical moisture just to the west of the cloud. Otherwise, how else could light refraction take place?

In any event, I don't think I've ever seen this before, so it was a 4-photo stitch well-worth taking.
