Projects update
« on: January 11, 2018, 05:33:09 PM »
Even with 14-degree temperatures and single-digit wind chill, I got a little cabin fever last Sunday and decided to go out and catch up on the progress of a couple projects.

I figured that since it's been months since I shot whatever was going on at the Midtown Bridge, its replacement must be up by now, but as I approached on the Approach, it was obvious that there was nothing to see, so I made the mandatory U-turn at the Ice House and headed up to Moore Street.

Lots of stuff going on in that neighborhood. But first..............

1,2. I walked over to the old Oritani FC site and took a shot through the fence at the corner of E. Camden and River and did a 3-pic stitch closer to Moore St (and over the fence).

3. Back up on Moore, I shot this 2-pic stitch from the parking lot behind Main St businesses and just south of the library.

4. Since this project wraps around to Main St, I walked toward E. Salem and took this shot on Moore to include the Wells Fargo Bank.

5. I took this crappy 2-pic stitch at Main and Salem. My shooting hand was frozen and it came out a bit lopsided (the stitch - not my hand). Straightening it out in post production chopped off the very top and most of the street. Better that than my finger.

6,7. Continuing with the wrap-around shoot, I made a 2-pic stitch from Moore and E. Salem and a 3-pic stitch from Moore, between E. Salem and E. Camden.

Enough! The cabin fever has been chilled from my body. I need to go home, warm up and take.........

8. ..........a crappy shot of what the Main and E. Salem part looks like from my living room WITHOUT cutting part of the top off.

I went for a nice, long walk on Main St yesterday and decided to check up on a bunch of projects, starting at 76 Main and working my way north:

76 Main

1. I took a 2-pic stitch through the back fence and it looks pretty much like it did a year ago, except there's a hole on the Main St side of the mural (you can see a parked car's sunlit taillight through it) and a couple of panels are off the Bridge St side and thrown on some debris.

2. A closeup stitch of those panels

3. The credits panel - has this been here all along? I've never seen it before.............it looks like it could be displayed better.

The hole at Main & Mercer

1,2. Also looks the same as last year

210 Main

1,2. Not much change to see on the outside. I'm sure it's a different story on the inside.

Main/Salem/Moore

1-4. Front, back, inside and in-between all look quite different from my earlier post of two weeks ago.

Current on River/Old OFC site (continued in the next post so as not to exceed post's file size limit)

Current on River/Old OFC site

1-5. The Current here also seems to be flowing fairly rapidly from two weeks ago.

These were all taken last Sunday and will be split into 2 posts:

The Hole - 1 still and 2 stitches

147 Main - 1 stitch (what's supposed to be built here?)

210 Main - 5 stills, including 2 of the FRONT of the bank that someone was concerned about. It looks fine.

Main/Salem/Moore - 7 stills

Current on River - 8 stills, 2 stitches

Main/Salem/Moore - 7 stills

Current on River - 8 stills, 2 stitches (#2118 shows what's at the very top of that huge crane and in the last image, the telephone wires don't line up.....it's a big glitch, but it's better than the previous attempt that cut a moving car in half)

Projects update (Part 1 of 2)
« Reply #7 on: April 27, 2018, 04:34:20 PM »
(Although the total photos file size is within the per-post limit, it won't work for some reason, so I'm splitting them up again.)

I took another projects walk last Sunday to check on progress (or lack of same):

1,2. The Record - No recent activity. The fencing was put up a couple of weeks ago, but if you recall, the 395 Main fencing went up 3 months before any demolition began, so it could be a while before the action starts. The sign in front of the building indicates that asbestos remediation may be taking place now.

3. Main & Mercer

4,5. The hole at Main & Mercer - Stitches looking west and north.............still no vertical construction. You know the deal with stitches……..click to enlarge and scroll away.

6. Meanwhile, right across Main St (and hidden from view)................

7. 210 Main St (rear), as seen from Foschini Park

8. 210 Main St (front), as seen from Banta Place

9. 210 Main St (front - looking up), as seen at the entrance

Projects update (Part 2 of 2)
« Reply #8 on: April 27, 2018, 04:39:26 PM »
(continued)

10-13. Main/Salem/Moore Street projects images - taken from Foschini Park, corner of Main/Salem, Salem between Moore and River streets, Moore Street

14. Slightly redundant

15. Moore meets Salem

16. Salem meets Main (an interesting contrast)

17. You tell me.

18. I hate to say what this looks like, but I DID take my hat off and bow my head when I worked on the picture.

19. Colors, geometry, heavy metal..............what's not to like?

20. From the SE corner of Camden and River............starting to take shape. Let's change the name of E. Camden St to Current St: "The Current on River at Current and River".

Projects update: CURRENT ON RIVER 7-8-18
« Reply #10 on: July 10, 2018, 02:20:13 PM »
Sunday's temperatures were tolerable and I was overdue for another projects update, so off I went to shoot Current on River, Moore/E. Salem/Main, 210 Main (front and back) and The Hole at Main and Mercer combined with 147 Main across the street. Filesizewise (not  a real word),  I'll have to make a post for each of the four topics.

CURRENT ON RIVER

All the pipes you see in the first three shots weren't there last time I visited. Anyone know what this particular area is to become (or what is shown in the seventh picture)?

Click to enlarge all horizontal images and scroll the last two photo stitches from left to right.

Projects update: MOORE/E. SALEM/MAIN 7-8-18
« Reply #11 on: July 10, 2018, 02:30:52 PM »
MOORE/E. SALEM/MAIN

The rear entrances of some of the Main St stores (third and fourth images) are more interesting than the front entrances (a mop over the door that's held open with a rope AND a sign that gets the street name wrong?).

Speaking of getting things wrong, the last image is a failed photo stitch that's so bad, it's kind of comical.

Click to enlarge the horizontal images.

210 Main (front and back)

1, 2, 3. EXCLUSIVE! The first tenant has already moved in to...........

4......... (where I removed the color from the building [not a big fan of the reddish/pinkish look of the bottom images])

5. The 210 alley that goes from Main to Moore

6, 7. Strange shapes taking place in the rear lobby of............

8.

9, 10. Heading south and west to..........

11...................before heading............

12, 13...................north

Projects update: THE HOLE AT MAIN AND MERCER & 147 MAIN 7-8-18
« Reply #13 on: July 10, 2018, 02:45:31 PM »
The Hole at Main and Mercer & 147 Main

1. Stitch looking west from Moore St

2, 3, 4. Three things I hadn't seen there before

5. Looking northeast from Main St

6. Meanwhile, directly across Main St: all this piping has been added since the last time I was here. Anyone have any idea what's coming to this space? I'm guessing that the McCrory 5 and 10 Cent Store sign is hidden again for another century.

150-170 Main: 382 units over 7000 sq. ft. retail.  They started pouring concrete footings today (finally).
149 Main: 72 units over retail. They'll make an effort to replicate the old Woolworth's façade.

Thanks for the photo updates!
