The Middle School's new artificial turf field - PART 1
« on: September 09, 2020, 01:03:57 PM »
I shot this project from my apartment through a dirty, unopenable window a block away from July 7 to September 8, 2020. The pictures are in sequence, so you can see what happened every step of the way. There may be more to come. If there's anything else that's significant to see, I'll post it.

Yesterday, I shot 16 little videos of sand infill (light) and ground-up little rubber bits (dark) being sprayed on the field with spreaders. In the stills, you can see big white bags on a truck coming down Union St and then stored in a Middle School parking lot over a month ago. I had no idea what was in them until yesterday. In the video, you'll see the contents (dark) of one of the bags being dumped into one of the spreaders and then sprayed on the field. The last pic is a stitch of 3 pix: pickup>dump>dispose. Click it and start scrolling to see the whole thing.

It wasn't easy editing two months of stills down to 20 - the post's limit - but I think this is a good representation of how an artificial turf field is constructed, as seen through a dirty window one block away and 7 floors up.

Due to the space limitation, the 16-little-videos-into-one video will be in the post that follows this one.

Re: The Middle School's new artificial turf field - The Dedication Ceremony

At a little after 10am on Saturday morning, I started hearing the National Anthem being sung outside somewhere. Eventually, I found that it was coming from the Hackensack Middle School's new turf field, where a dedication ceremony was being held.

1. I found the notice online.

2. From a block-and-a-half away, this is my full view.

3. A little closer view

4. (Zoomed all the way in) Mayor LaBrosse leaves the podium.

5. I don't know who the cleric standing in back is.
