Babysitting memories
« on: March 20, 2005, 03:24:38 PM »
When my sisters were of babysitting age, circa 1968, they would take care of kids all over the neighborhood.

One day, they were babysitting for a little kid on Catalpa, I don't remember her name, I remember she was a niece of the Provenzano's however.

She was showing them around the house, and told them, "we have a trap door in our kitchen." As my sisters didn't believe her, she took them to a throw rug in the kitchen, which she pulled aside revealing a trap door underneath. She lifted the door so that they could see a small room, no windows, no doors, with a bed, a tv, and a small refrigerator.

"My uncle Tony lived down there for six months," she said.

God, you've got to love Hackensack.
