Hometown River Cleanup & Barbecue

WHAT: Hackensack Riverkeeper River Cleanup.
WHERE: Foschini Park, Hackensack. Enter from River St. (at Toyota Dealer) – look for white "mobile cleanup unit" and tent
WHEN: Sunday, August 21 from 9 AM until 2 PM.
WHY: Foschini Park in Hackensack is heavily used by sports teams, fishermen and picnickers. The result is unfortunately a good deal of litter and stormwater runoff into the Hackensack River. The park is situated on a particularly pretty section of the river, and has some excellent public access points for canoeing and kayaking on the Hackensack, and has been the site of several Hackensack Riverkeeper events, so Riverkeeper will be transporting its canoes to Hackensack for a massive cleanup of one of its hometown parks.
Forty plus volunteers are expected to pick up debris from canoes and from the banks of the river and the surrounding fields and parking lot. Volunteers will be provided with all necessary equipment, breakfast and a barbecue lunch at 1 PM. New volunteers are encouraged to show up - it is not necessary to register or to stay for the entire 5 hours.
