HACKENSACK -- The city's first outdoor farmers' market will crop up this summer, offering fruits and vegetables, and Amish bread, pies and jellies.
The farmers' market will set up in Johnson Park at Cedar Lane and River Street. The market will run for 17 consecutive weeks on Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning July 5 and running through Oct. 25.
Vendors will offer fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, flowers, pickles, meat, cheese and other dairy products.
The market is being organized by the Upper Main Alliance, the Greater Hackensack Chamber of Commerce and the city of Hackensack.
Darlene Damstrom, executive director of the chamber, said so far five vendors have committed to participating and others are in the works.
