Watershed-wide Cleanup and Recreation Day

First-ever event takes place on Saturday, May 13

Hackensack, NJ – Members of the press are invited to attend this first-ever event being conducted by Hackensack Riverkeeper in partnership with the City of Hackensack and the New Jersey Clean Communities Program. Here are the particulars:

Event: Watershed-Wide Cleanup and Recreation Day
Location: Local cleanups will be conducted at locations throughout the Hackensack River watershed (which includes parts of Bergen, Hudson and Rockland Counties) during the morning. In the afternoon, participants will gather at Johnson Park, located on the Hackensack River at River & Anderson Streets in Hackensack for lunch, games and a tree-planting ceremony in honor of Hackensack Riverkeeper Captain Bill Sheehan.

Date and Times: Saturday May 13, 2006; all local cleanups begin at 8 AM (including one at Johnson Park). The afternoon festivities will begin at Johnson Park at 12:30 PM.
 
The Watershed-Wide Cleanup and Recreation Day is being held in conjunction with National River Cleanup Week and is intended to engage people of all ages in active conservation as well as to highlight the impacts of outdoor recreation on the environment.
