Photographs of the Meadowlands by Hackensack resident Marco Lips are now on display at the NJ Meadowlands Commission’s Flyway Gallery.

"Quintessential Meadowlands" features tranquil shoreline shots, up-close looks at butterflies and dragonflies, and beautiful sunset photos. A Hackensack resident who grew up in the Netherlands, Lips said he first became intrigued by the Meadowlands some 20 years ago while commuting to work on the New Jersey Turnpike. He said that the open space in the Meadows reminded him of the flatlands of his native Holland and that he was fascinated by the juxtaposition of the area’s natural beauty with the bustle of the Turnpike and New York City just miles away.

Lips’ work can be viewed at his Web site, http://sites.google.com/site/vanbrabant1.

The Flyway Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is located at the Meadowlands Environment Center in Lyndhurst, within DeKorte Park, the home of the NJMC. The park encompasses one-square mile of wetlands, nature trails and water views – framed by the New York City skyline – and is a great place for bird watching and enjoying nature in general.

Directions to DeKorte Park are available in the "About Us" section of the NJMC’s website, at www.njmeadowlands.gov, or by calling (201) 460-8300.
