I think Eric Martindale hit the nail right on the head! He made it quite clear that "the homeless" are not just one mass of people, but very unique people with a variety of reasons that they are homeless. There is no one simple solution to the problem, but I think Hackensack should not condemn the homeless, but try to alleviate the problem and be more compassionate about the whole thing. I also believe that Hackensack alone should not have to bear the whole burden. Since it is the county seat, all Bergen county towns should bear some of the responsibility.

It really upsets me to know about those 3 new homes. There are a few other towns that are allowing the same thing. These new houses are going to take away all the character of the neighborhood, which consists mostly of older homes. One of the nicest things about Hackensack is there are no "cookie-cutter" neighborhoods, but it looks like that is beginning to change! My grandfather, and my two uncles, who were all born and raised in Hackensack, built a lot of the older homes, including the Sears Roebuck house that they lived in on 196 Poplar Ave. It's sad to see builders coming in and buying property and then tearing down the house on it & building new ones that are out of place in our neighborhoods. I think we should have higher standards for zoning and building!

Gee Tuscany, If you're comparing John Zisa to John Gotti, I think all they have in common is their first name. It sounds like you have a personal vendetta, to me. Keep away from the Gallo!

I feel that Hackensack will one day be all apartments, condos, and townhouses!! What a shame that we don't have a preservation & restoration committee in our town. I remember when Prospect avenue was a beautiful street with older homes on it. I guess that's what progress is all about, but what a high cost to pay....the loss of our history!

I've known Jack Zisa for about 20 years, and in all that time, his behavior has always been that of a very compassionate, caring person.

I couldn't think of anyone else that I would want to be mayor of this very complex city, that I have lived in for 55 years now.

Jack has always been honest & ethical and it would be hard for me to imagine that he would involve himself in anything that would be for his own personal good.

I feel privileged to have him as my mayor. Thank you, Jack Zisa.

                                 Sincerely,
