Anybody remember a decrepid diner on the west side of Moore Street right behind the buildings that the City bought for Atlantic Street? It was torn down in the mid 70's.

The Jeep dealer on Polifly Road was Kalman Motors.

Thanks Homer,....Kalman Motors it was....your right..... also to the point that it was like a junk yard....

I do remember that Diner...but not the name..(if I didn't take so many pills already i'd start taking Ginko ).....I seem to remember a few little decrepid diners around town..but not their names, At the bottom of essex street just east of the railrond tracks and before you get to Green st. across from The Banjo Bar, there was one.....at the top of essex where simple simon is...I remember that name ...because a friend Mike Plati owned it for a while and it's been discussed  here once or twice...that was the Mayflower....

Who could forget Charcol Corners....The Tri-Boro Diner....The Fairmont Diner.....The Trolley Stop....The Heritage....The Famous Rosie's Diner...even though in Little Ferry...The Bendix Diner...also Little Ferry, I believe, There was also a Stewarts Root Beer right there by The Bendix...

I guess I do remember a few of them......

Railroads have also long used signal towers to alert drivers about changes or problems on the rails ahead. Acting as a sort of railroad traffic device, these towers are elevated to be at a highly visible location for oncoming trains.

There still is an active tower on the Bergen Line that runs alongside Eire Ave in Rutherford in between East Rutherford....I see someone there what seems like all the time, I don't know what they are doing, maybe just making sure the computers are doing their job...But I think they occupy it 24 hours a day..i'm just saying...

flying the flag properly is not an option. If they can't afford someone to do it right then just take down the flag pole.

You added to your karma ...  with that one Hank...

I stopped in Sear's last Saturday to buy something....and while I was there, I figured I would bring it to someones attention that they were showing disrespect to the flag by flying it at half staff...When it shouldn't be ...

I went to the 2nd floor to the managers office ....There is no managers office up there anymore....so I went downstairs and on the way down I met up with a security person...who informed me that the managers office is in the basement, in like a backroom of the tool section... and that there is no access to the public...So I brought it to his attention and he said he was going to fix it....

I guess it wasn't within his power to do so....He couldn't answer why it was being flown that way....

Just want to point something out...

In picture #6 (the bridge's south walkway) in post (A STROLL ACROSS THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE)

See the Titanium encasement's around the cables that were put in place after 9-11...  That's so the enemy cant drive up with a car or truck explosive and try to take out the bridge...not trying to scare anyone...it's a dangerous world we live in...

This is only a guess....But here goes.....

It's a brand new flag, that's obvious, possibly they installed for Memorial Day...

According to When and How to Fly the U.S.Flag... put out by the www.VFW.Org , Flag etiquette is to fly Old Glory at 1/2 staff until noon on 5-30 Memorial Day , then raised to the Top of the staff until sunset....

Maybe the installer...Has a misinterpreted idea....and will they return to raise to the top of the staff at noon...?
