Title: Union St. Fire contained
Post by: Editor on December 08, 2009, 11:09:10 PM
[I'm glad HFD contained this fire.  I've always liked this house.  There are few like it left. See Record picture below.]

From Today's Record:

HACKENSACK – Firefighters sharpening their skills at a practice drill Tuesday afternoon responded to a two-alarm fire within one minute and contained the blaze to one room of a three-story house, officials said.

A minor fire broke out on the third floor of a Union Street home but no injuries were reported.

Fire Lt. Stephen A Lindner said the third-floor fire displaced about seven occupants of the rooming house on Union Avenue, which is down the block from Fire Department headquarters. The cause of the fire is under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious, Lindner said.

The people inside the building left on their own and were not injured, he added.

Lindner said all on-duty fire companies were taking part in a monthly drill at the time of the alarm.
