Hackensack Discussion / Tear Down The Fox! (and beware of Y2K!)
« on: January 18, 2010, 05:16:24 PM »
Did anyone see the article in the current County Seat about the Oritani Theater? It mentions the Fox Theater across the street and says that it "now stands abandoned and awaiting demolition."

Was this article written 10 years ago?

I took this picture in 2004. The Fox is in the center.

Death to Fox air molecules!

Seller's description:

This is an offering for a vintage postcard showing the Queen of the Hudson, The Mary Powell.  The card was published by Arthur Livingston, New York and is in very good condition.  It has 3 postmarks, one blurred, one is Nyack, NY and one is Hackensack, NJ,.  They are dated Aug 6, 1906.

Actually, the blurred PM also appears to be from Hackensack.

I wonder what the "Ridgefield Park Sta." in Hackensack was. ???

Seller's description:

This album is very clean with only very light wear, visible only if held up to a light. Nice shiny vinyl. Cover is in good condition as well, with only the beginnings of some ring wear at the very top and bottom. No split seams.

The only surface noise is at the beginning of Drivin’ South and during parts of Get Out Of My Life. Otherwise, a pretty clean playing record. I’ve not attempted to clean this disc with fluids.

There is an excellent explanation of these recordings on the “Drivin’ South” album review at: http://pagesperso-orange.fr/hendrix.guide/before.htm

OK, kids - here's your chance! This is worth it just for the cover. This should be framed and hanging in City Hall. Since that'll never happen, let me be the first to suggest that it hang in the Hackensack History Museum/Cultural Center or whatever the Masonic Hall becomes.

Seller's Description:

Up for Auction is one Kodachrome slide of Maywood, New Jersey's 1938 Ahrens Fox, Ex-Hackensack NJ This is an extra in my collection, selling to put money back into the hobby .   Copyright retained by seller.

I just found this and it closes tonight at 10:31pm. It's got 5 bids and it's up to $15.50 at the moment, so if you want it, hurry. You can't sell any prints or make any money from it without working something out with the seller because he retains the copyright, but you can make prints for yourself or to give away to friends.

The seller is Hackensack firefighter Mike Martinelli - a real good guy. If you like firetruck images from all over, he's your man.

This is the same vehicle that was shown/discussed in the "2009 Columbus Day Parade" thread.
