(NOTE: eBay made a lot of crappy changes this past week, including the creation of super-long auction URLs, so from now on, I'll try to either post the item number - which you can simply enter into eBay's search box - or, if I have the time, I'll make a shorter URL, like the one just below)

That's an awfully long URL. If it doesn't work and you need to see the auction, go to ebay.com and enter 110398312292   in the search box.

On the back of the photo, it says "1884".

Seller's description:

This panoramic view of the city of Hackensack, New Jersey was originally drawn by O. H. Bailey & Co. in 1896. The map identifies the street names and points of interest in Hackensack more than a century ago. The printed detail is outstanding.

From the largest and most comprehensive cartographic collection in the world, Zazzle and The Library of Congress bring you this commemorative poster print featuring a panoramic view of the city of Hackensack, New Jersey was originally drawn by O. H. Bailey & Co. in 1896. The map identifies the street names and points of interest in Hackensack more than a century ago. The printed detail is outstanding.

This print measures 29"x23" and is printed on heavyweight poster paper.

These reproductions are a dime a dozen (not literally) on eBay and have been for a while. You can almost always find one if you want one, but in case someone isn't aware of them and wants one, here's the info for future reference.

They come is various sizes and prices and have a greenish color to them. I got a white one about a decade ago and it hangs in my hallway. It's an interesting piece with old street names and almost no houses on the Hill. It's odd to see the "Y" of Euclid Ave at its western end and not see a single structure anywhere near it.

The map is surrounded by illustrations of old residences, businesses, churches, and other structures and is really a pretty neat piece to have.

I'm only going to post about it this one time, so if you want one someday, just search "hackensack map" or "hackensack 1896 map" (without the quotes) in eBay's search box.

If 2 year construction starts on 24-story building on Prospect/Summit does that mean no bunny just swarms of smaller creatures with long tails looking for cheese.

If they're looking to swap their long tales for cheesy stories, they just struck paydirt.

Hackensack Discussion / Swans Sighting

This morning, from my apartment, I saw 4 swans in the Hackensack River (at low tide) at the northern tip of Foschini Park.

In my 21 years here, I've seen egrets, ducks, hawks, and too many geese there, but never swans.

Is this an unusual sighting?
