Title: Great Depression/Kulken
Post by: Editor on January 10, 2008, 03:41:41 PM
Someone from the Palisades Learning Center contacted me with regard to the text below.  He's helping a student with a report and is wondering who "Mr. Kulken" is.  He is referred to in the 1933 Letter to the Editor of the Bergen Evening Record.   Apparently, he was a large employer who laid off many men.

I know there is a Kuiken Lumber (http://www.kuikenbrothers.com/) in Emerson that's been around since 1912 (according to their site).  I wonder if Kulken is a misprint.

Any ideas about the identity of Mr. Kulken or Grace Cross of Hackensack, the author of the letter?
