Wasn't there something about Dewey beating Truman?

Piffle!

I'm going for "Cain Eliminates Abel"!

I cleaned out some old papers today and found this 1990 Record article about the Anderson St neighborhood. (click to enlarge each page)

"North Jersey/Obituaries" seems to be a somewhat unfortunate heading on the second page.

I'm gonna have to start cleaning stuff out a lot less frequently. That way, I'll find much older papers.

Crank up that volume again!

This also happened around 8:30, but PM. Window and screen were both open..........I'm lucky I didn't drop my cell 7 floors down (or have a heart attack). This one sounded like it was right overhead.  Because it was dark out, you can't see how much I jumped.

Cell-cam did not pick up the visual very well, but I sure did. It was as bright as it was loud.

This one may be even louder than Monday's............plus it has a horn section!

Unusual vehicle (bus? limo?) from the Westwood Trans. Co.

Hackensack and Westwood? Is this a forerunner of the 165 bus that couldn't go to NYC because the Lincoln Tunnel wasn't built yet?

WHAT is wrong with Anderson St? They're STILL working on it!

PSE&G has had a bunch of their trucks by Holman's today and the better part of last week. They keep digging and covering it up. Maybe that's why that block will never be repaved - the never-ending repair work.

This photo was taken today.

I saw that you had some great concert photos of Leslie West on your site, but do you have any pictures from when he was living in Hackensack as Leslie Weinstein?

I wish.

Sorry.

1969 HACKENSACK, NEW JERSEY - ESSIE OLIVE ABEEL PRIVATE SCHOOL - YEARBOOK. SOME WRITING IN YEARBOOK. APPROX 52 PAGES. IN VERY FINE CONDITION.

The Essie Olive Abeel Preparatory School was located at 293 Lookout Ave.

I don't think I've ever heard of this school before and there's no other mention of it on this site. I found online evidence of some alumni of the school and that it existed as recently as 1998, but that's about it.

Anyone have any info on this place?
