Title: What happened on State St this morning?
Post by: BLeafe on March 19, 2012, 07:55:09 PM
SOMETHING happened on State St either at or just north of Passaic St this morning. I saw two ambulances, but the building at 40 Passaic blocked my view of whatever it was.

With State St blocked off, all traffic feeding up to State from both directions on Main St was funneled up Ward St to Union St, including buses. Ward was jammed (first picture).

I'm guessing there was a car accident on State (if someone was ill at 40 Passaic, the ambulances would be on Passaic St).

Also, less than a minute after I took the first picture, the ambulances were screaming up a jammed Ward St (or trying to - second picture), so there must have been a reason they couldn't simply leave via Passaic St.

However, as soon as the ambulances got through, State St was immediately reopened to traffic.

Anybody know what happened?

Thanks, Mike.

Just curious..........any idea why the ambulances - which appeared to be heading toward Teaneck (off Ward, they made a right on Union and a right on Anderson) - couldn't just make a turn onto Passaic from State and avoid fighting their way through a jammed, single-lane Ward St?
