Hackensack plans opening second splash park by summer's end

HACKENSACK — City children will have an additional splash park to play in during the summer months after city officials adopted an ordinance.
This future splash park, which will be located in Carver Park, is the second of its kind in the city. The first one is located in Polifly Park.
The ordinance, adopted at the March 10 Mayor and Council Meeting, appropriates $350,000 from the fund balance of the general capital fund of the city for the construction of the park.

Let me reprint my post on the article itself:
There appears to be a disconnect.....Once Green Acres funds are used ONCE in a municipality, all parks are open to all residents of New Jersey. That's the law. And ironically, Green Acres money was first used in Hackensack to expand Carver Park in the early 1980's. So as a result of that deal, Carver Park and all parks are open to the general public in the City of Hackensack. In addition, all city-owned parkland is preserved in perpetuity, and can never be sold off.

it was actually used in 1977 to redo Baldwin Park. the big Green Acres sign was placed facing Grand Ave at the time.

That may be true, but the City didn't sign the binding contract with Green Acres because there was no land acquisition. The Carver Park expansion to First Street involved land purchase with Green Acres funds
