It was bolts-galore this afternoon. I can't tell you how many I saw nearby, but it was a lot. I wish it happened at night when long exposures would let me catch lightning in a camera.
One hit nearby in the Conklin-Pangborn-Anderson Park area. I wouldn't dare go on the roof, so I went downstairs to try to shoot from under the building's front awning.
When I got there, I met a semi-soaked man who had been caught in the downpour and found a bit of shelter.
I took whatever few pictures I could of the HFD vehicles, but I don't know what - if anything - was actually hit by lightning there.
A woman came out of my building wearing a t-shirt and shorts. She had no umbrella and decided to start running to wherever it was that she was going. I told her she was crazy. She laughed and took off (third picture).
Two hours later near sunset, the sky looked kind of orange-y and the high-rises looked a bit hazy.
I'm sure much worse things happened around town - maybe irons35 will fill us in - but this was my little hazy, crazy slice of today.

I dont have any other info on anything yesterday's fire calls. I was off yesterday. I do know that pretty much anytime we have a nasty lightning storm we always seem to get the box for the church across the street from you. i dont know if the building is getting hit by lightning, but I ave been there numerous times after a lightning strike. fortunately, so far its always been nothing. you must have gotten some great lightning shots yesterday. I was in Lyndhurst for my son's district BB game and when the typhoon came thru they cancelled, but the lightning was incredible coming back in 17. 3 ground strikes in a row right in the same place only maybe a half mile from us. it was crazy

I didn't get any - you have to do long exposures and get lucky and you can't do long exposures during the day. That's why I said, "I wish it happened at night when long exposures would let me catch lightning in a camera.".
Maybe tonight.................
