Hackensack Discussion / Re: 210 Main Street

that room is long gone.  the entire building was completely gutted down to concrete and steel, including the beautiful lobby ceiling.

the machines you are asking about are propane heaters, used so the drywall compound dries properly and quickly in winter.

Hackensack Discussion / Re: The "old style" street signs
« on: December 05, 2019, 04:04:56 PM »
they put up a new sign on the opposite side of the street, but in typical fashion, only half a job...  put the cross street....  or no signs at all....

i would love to know what brain surgeon thought it was a good idea to plant trees on Salem St, between Main and Moore...  besides for the fact that the street is too narrow for trees, it is scratching the crap out of every truck that comes in contact with them, and the trees themselves are getting a beating...  and when people drop anchor in front of the restaurant and park, you have no choice but to run into the branches...  not good planning...   Not every street needs a tree canopy on it....

Hackensack Discussion / Re: My favorite paper is not having a good day

the paper is the worst pile of crap...   there is no journalism.... just cut and paste....   todays paper.  page BL2...  article about the air show...  apparently these are printed long in advance, since they are advertising a show in which one of the planes prominently featured crashed yesterday in Connecticut, killing 9 people and injuring several others... time to cancel.

#7 are counter weights for the crane.

1. I went back to the FDU pedestrian bridge on Friday, starting on the Teaneck side.

2. The walking surface is now gone, but the old supports appear to be staying.

3,4. The rescue craft isn't in the water, so these guys are in big danger.

5,6,7. First look at the new components of the bridge

8. When no one was looking, I "borrowed" the boat and zipped over to the Hackensack side to take this picture (and if you believe THAT................).

the worker is in the boat in case anyone working on the bridge falls in the water.

Hackensack Discussion / Re: Area in need of Rehabilitation

whoever decided to plant that species of tree on the Salem St. side of the building should re-evaluate...  besides the fact that the trees are already all torn up from vehicles hitting them, an entire lane of traffic is lost because they reach so far out into the street... the Main St. side not much better...

they cleared the northwest side of the tracks there last week .  wonder whats going on that the railroad is spending that much money to do it.

maybe 15 feet....  the building from the highest completed level to the very bottom isn't even 50 feet.    he does have a flair for the dramatic headline though...
