I see a "CLEANERS" sign in the strip mall where Chicken Magician is now. So if your chicken has a hint of perc, you know why.

I also see something else interesting. It's hard to read, but I think that's an old Frosty Maid ice cream truck! I can't find a single image in Google Images of one of these trucks.

Wow! Double value!

Seller's description:

Hackensack Anderson Street Railroad Station photographed in 1962.  Since the station burnt down last year this would be a good record of it for historical or modeling purposes.

This one's an 8x10.

Of course, this is the Passaic St crossing. I notified the seller, so maybe he'll change it by the time you read this.

http://xrl.us/HackLineTicket

Seller's description:

Vintage, as is, 1922 ticket from Public Service Railway's Hackensack Line.  The Public Service Railway, owend by the Public Services Corporation of New Jersey, opeated most of the streetcar lines in NJ by the early 20th century.

I don't see anything that says "1922".

UPDATE:

I sent the seller a long, convoluted explanation about why I thought this ticket was from 1917 instead of 1922. It had to do with guessing that there were unseen letters and numbers under the tape mark - a "1" before the "917" primarily and a "T" before the "HU" to clinch it.

The "T" would make it say "THU-NOV 22" (Thursday).

Nov. 22 in 1922 was a Wednesday, but was a Thursday in 1917.

VoilĂ ! He just wrote back: "you are correct, it is 1917, not 1922. Thanks for catching this!"

Hackensack Discussion / Re: Cardinals and Blue Jays ??
« on: February 13, 2010, 01:56:39 PM »
On another site, a woman in Georgia posted a picture of 2 cardinals in the snow there this week. A woman in Miami praised the picture and then said:

"We get cardinals in our backyard too, although we haven't seen any lately. I think ours may have flown further south."

Hmmm.........

I usually get one chirping away in a pine tree just below my living room window, but I think it's a little early for that.

Hackensack Discussion / A Walk in the Snow
« on: February 10, 2010, 06:23:08 PM »
I decided to go out for a stroll in the snow storm at around 11:30 this morning and take pictures before the more-blizzardy aspect arrived this afternoon.

I had to set the cell for smaller pictures because I took a lot of them and the memory isn't great.

Everything looks different in the snow, including:

bicycles

kitchen appliances

garbage

playgrounds

?

trees (it wasn't windy - that's how it looks)

the park fountain across the street

circular electrical wires

religious statues

someone's scarf

Holy Trinity Van Lines

Hackensack Discussion / Grounded Light on State St
« on: February 08, 2010, 11:30:03 PM »
As I was walking out of the post office today, I saw this street light taking a siesta across Central Avenue.

I asked a cop who was directing traffic what happened. He didn't know - he had just been called there.

Anyone care to enLIGHTen me?
