With three full tickets running, the opposition slates are splitting the anti-Labrosse vote. That's a tough one.

I'm astounded at the lack of real issues being discussed in this election. There's been multiple newspaper articles, and I haven't seen a substantive issue being discussed.

OK - what are the issues?

Issues are downtown redevelopment, including returning Main Street to two-way traffic, as a way of raising ratables and lowering taxes for home and business owners. Will bringing hundreds or thousands of people to live there revive downtown? Englewood has tried that so far without success. Still, if taxes go down .... Hackensack is saddled with the hospital and other non-profits that shift the tax burden to you and me, so any way to add ratables is welcome. Another issue that hasn't been addressed is returning the city to what it was under the Zisas. Will that mean nepotism, higher taxes or what? Look at the schools. The Zisas still control that board.

I have to call out the Labrosse Team on their most recent mailer that states "the Zisa Team keeps insulting Kathy Canestrino" by calling her "the money girl". She dubbed herself the money girl. See attached article. And there is video from that meeting. This mailer is completely dishonest.

The Record is full of surprises today.................and I haven't even finished reading it yet.

After seeing the strange sign that I posted earlier today, I got as far as the classifieds, where I always check the Antique & Classic car offerings to see if anyone's giving away a 1963 split-window Corvette.

Unfortunately, that's not happening today, but there was an unusual new ad that I had never seen before: "Old Mafia Vehicles" and its picture showed a Cadillac being pulled from some body of water.

Is there a market for such cars?

Click to enlarge the picture so you can see what else it said and check out the URL.

Just looked at the video. One of the most superficial I've ever seen. Hackensack River pollution is a local issue? The Ling stuck in the mud? We can thank the greedy Borgs for that. I couldn't see all the type displayed in the video. How is downtown redevelopment "irresponsible" ? Just quoting one side bashing the other doesn't illuminate anything.

First, the Ward map shown in the Northjersey.com article is long outdated. The Wards were completely redrawn about 15 years ago, give or take. Why does the County Board of Elections have the old map ?

Also, it's inaccurate to say that the two challenger tickets canceled each other out. The supporters of the Lara Rodriquez ticket (aka Democratic machine ticket) are diametrically opposed to Deborah's slate, and vis versa.  To suggest that they could have all voted to support just one of them is completely ignorant of the politics and history of Hackensack, and the people involved.

You win by getting YOUR VOTERS to the polls. Don't worry about the other guy's voters, you already lost and they won't change their minds.  And there's plenty of voters out there who didn't vote, literally thousands of them, and they could have been "rounded up" to add to the total of any of the tickets.  Educate the public and get support, and then get YOUR VOTERS out to the polls, and you will win. That's the bottom line.  Don't cry about having two tickets opposing you.

Dear Mr. Martindale. For a thumbs up:  Please demonstrate how and why your statement is supported and indicate any exact words with sources that state what you are implying was stated by the incumbent or anyone else. Please use their exact words, and why you state your conclusion. You sound like someone supporting a ticket or expect everyone to agree with a statement that is unsupported. And please give us your view of the politics and ties in Hackensack and why you have made your conclusion. What are the facts, please support your statement, and and why we should take it as absolute.  Sorry for the thumbs down. New in town Thank you 123
