Original comparative placard from June 29,1919 honoring Hackensack soldiers who gave their lives during the Great War.  From the photo album of 1st Sgt. George Hedges / 114th Infantry from WW1.

These photos are from my great uncle George Hedges of a parade but did not identify the location.  For years I've been trying to figure out where they  were taken and although I suspected Hackensack, I couldn't find anything until I read this post.

Hackensack History / WW1 Hackensack / Captain Harry Doremus
« on: April 14, 2018, 09:53:26 PM »
This picture of Captain Harry B. Doremus was taken in September 1917 on arrival at the new Camp McClellan AL.  Captain Doremus was in command of Company G / 5 Infantry / New Jersey National Guard.  This unit would eventually become part of the 114th Infantry in the newly formed 29th Division.  A year later they would take part in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive bringing an end to the Great War.  Picture from the photo album of my great uncle 1st Sgt. George Hedges who served with Captain Doremus from 1916 ( Mexican Border Conflict ) until Captain Doremus was kia on October 27.1918

I will post them soon.  Are you familiar with the Hackensack High School Veterans Website?  I share a lot of my research with them and many of my pictures are on their site under WW1

I may have pictures of this parade.  My great uncle 1st Sgt George Hedges had left a photo album during the Mexican Border in 1916, WW1 in France and unknown pictures of soldiers parading.
