I drove by there on sunday and saw a 150 sign still up too. I hope someone saves that little booth there somehow. Just seeing that logo reminds me of delivering the paper in 1978-79

I haven't been there in many years myself (either Arena or Heritage). When I was part time driving for Mr Taxi in the early 90's the parking lot of the Arena was one of my "waiting" spots. Of course I would take a break there for an egg sandwich and coffee as well. The Heritage was my go-to spot when I worked at Guy Ross Chevrolet in the late 80's. The Chit Chat I haven't been to, since it was Triboro, but I've heard it's not that great

Hackensack History / Re: Essex St pizzeria
« on: October 09, 2018, 07:12:30 AM »
As suspected, the pizzeria was in that little strip of stores, which at the time included a barber shop. As it turns out, my future father-in-law owned that pizzeria. And a relative of his owned the barber shop. And yes, they did sponsor little league baseball in town. Such a small world...he also told me a funny little story that his one time delivery car was a Chevy Vega, which dies going up Essex St and they decided to just leave it on the side of the road! Haha

I hope if another deli goes in there they paint the building, that blue makes it look unappetizing
