there were two of them there this weekend parked in the same spot.  saw them saturday and sunday.  gone this morning.
Actually, two videos - the second one being the Rose Royce tune (with lyrics) I mentioned in the stills post:

So I'm relaxing this morning, reading the paper when I suddenly heard a sound outside my window that I've never heard here before - a trumpet. I've heard bagpipes outside - more than once - but never a trumpet.

So I stuck my head out the window and my eyes followed my ears to a figure standing a block away on the State St traffic island at Passaic St in Hackensack, NJ, and tooting his own horn. WTF? (doesn't "heck" begin with an "F"?)

For a second, I flashed back to the Dancing Man who used to always be gyrating on the SW corner of Anderson and River Streets years ago.

I went out on my roof and noticed a car wash going on at the nearby Middle School. Could these two things be related? No way! Unless the trumpeter is well-versed in Rose Royce tunes for horn, how does a trumpet signal to you that there’s a car wash here that you should patronize?

Of course, curiosity got the better of me and I headed on over.

When I got there, I found that he wasn’t alone. There were young students on all the corners with signs, contributions containers and loud voices trying to convince all the drivers going by to get their cars washed for a good cause, which was………….?

The guy with the trumpet was taking a break, so I went over and spoke with him. His name is Joseph Wolverton, a junior at HHS and a member of the HHS Marching Band.

I told him that I’d be walking around and shooting from different angles and that’s just what I did.

The result is a few stills and an unsophisticated mashup of 10 MOV files that I put on YouTube.

Here are the stills:

1,2,3. These were the initial identifying images that were taken from my apartment, 1-2 blocks away.

4. Taken in case anyone was interested in where everyone was, relative to the World Trade Center.

5. I took this when I got to the scene and found Joe auditioning outside of Hackensack’s hottest club - the Parisian Beauty Academy - which charges $8 per car, according to the sign.

A couple of these can be clicked to enlarge them.

Remember the notice about 3 F-18s departing Teterboro sometime last Friday?

Here's that departure:

My feeble attempt. The sound was more impressive.
I heard a rumor that F-18 jets would be flying into Teterboro at around 1:30pm today. I had a 1pm appointment scheduled at HUMC. I got there at 12:45 and explained that I needed to leave around 1:30 to run up to the HUMC roof and try to get shots of the jets. They thought that was pretty cool.

Seven minutes later, we all heard the jets fly overhead - damn!

I was not happy. When I was done, I told them I was going to Teterboro and was determined to get some shots...........and that's exactly what I did at 2:11pm.

The first image is a 3-photo stitch.

I hadn't heard why F-18s were flying into Teterboro, but the second image shows that the plane on the right is practically in the Walmart parking lot, so that should tell you..............absolutely nothing.

I haven't been on the walkway in a while, so I took some shots on Tuesday:

1. Start with a stitch: under the Anderson St Bridge at high tide

2. Stitch 2: Just before you go through the walkway's open gate at the northern end of the park, this is what's on the other side of the fence on your left.

3. This was an easy fix.

4. I saw this sign just before the Rothman Center. It referred to the pedestrian bridge over the river between the Teaneck and Hackensack campuses, but it turned out to be a sign that someone forgot to take down, because the bridge was open.

5. If it wasn't open, I wouldn't have been able to get a shot of this festival ad on the bridge's Equinox box. The show's next weekend in Dover, DE, if you're interested.
