Late Friday afternoon, I saw that there were EMERGENCY NO PARKING  SAT. 7AM-3PM signs posted on every meter for all 28 spaces along the southern border of the E municipal parking lot. What could possibly be going on to occupy all those spaces on a Saturday? In my nearly 3 decades here, I've never seen anything that did that.

As of 9 or 10am Saturday, I still didn't.

A little after 10:30, a green school bus..............sorry, "fun bus"...........pulls up and horizontally occupies 4 spaces behind the First Presbyterian Church. Five or six more of these buses could have occupied the rest of the allotted space, but that was it - the one, fun bus.

The driver got out and unloaded a landing mat and a plastic slide that stretched from the bus' bumper alllllll the way down to the ground. What thrills! Around the slide were traffic cones and what appeared to be a folding plastic fence, in case one of the children overslid the runway. He later added a small basketball net that I never saw get used and a trampoline that remained on its side throughout.

Every time I walked by my window, I looked out to see what was going on and saw nothing except for two occasions when a boy had just safely landed from the slide to the delight of his mother and two little girls who also used the slide. At that point, the man packed everything up and left. It was 1pm.

I'm hoping that a lot more went on that I didn't see and that whoever paid for everything got their money's worth, but you have to wonder when one bus occupies 28 spaces that were reserved for eight hours and leaves after two-and-a-half.

Oh well. I'm sure a fun time was had by all - however many that was.

Wanna get in on the fun? The last picture hooks you up if you're looking for a fun job.

the headline on daily voice is horribly written.

Did you read the first sentence? ("...the corporate owner is pointing pointing to online shopping...")

A lot of people are apparently not happy with this situation, including Stephen King:

Does anyone actually remember a storm the Nether Channel named "Janus"? A couple of pictures were posted on that FB page that showed the unfortunate placement of graphics (below) and people on the set.

Serves them right.

Colbert gets it (go to 4:11 on this video from last night):

Only the National Weather Service is authorized to name storms - not some self-serving TV channel named Weather.

Peru, huh?

I wonder if our friend, Alfonso, was among them. It wasn't long after that that he opened his Don Alfonso (Peruvian) Restaurant on State St which served lots of fish dishes.

I've been busy for the last 9 or 10 months with a self-imposed project involving every non-music-related photo I've ever taken (with many months to go) and I came across some negative film I shot in early 2001 which included this colorful image.

Who knew you could shred a safe? I always thought you'd need a blow torch or something.

I wondered about that too.

Anyway, here's a video of the process: the containers get pulled up and part of the side of the truck also rises, the votes get dumped, supposedly shredded and everything comes back down for reload.

Well, whaddaya know? Steve dropped by from my site and now we have the Shredding Trifecta.

BTW - I sent these to the shredding company's GM and he got a chuckle of of them.

There were actually two of these trucks parked on State St. This looks like the other one just exploded.

Too bad Steve Vai and his guitar aren't in the picture or else we'd have a shredding trifecta.

This is an athletic variation of the big-backpacked, eyes-glued-to-the-phone Pokepeople I usually see in the E lot.

This is a perfect candidate for a "before" rehab shot.

Looking forward to posting the "after" one.

The political parties change and morph over time, but one thing has always been true about the Republican Party from Abe Lincoln straight up to Donald Trump.  The Republican Party is, among other things, the party of BIG BUSINESS.  And in the 1860's, that was big business of the North versus the agriculture-based South.

I have no idea what any of that has to do with the price of eggs, but here's what I got out of it.................I think:

...........a certain tuna company that I won't name.

If that thing had stuck in my throat, I might have had to swallow that penny to try to dislodge it.

Their tuna is OK, but I could do without the skeletal structure.

Sorry, Charlie.
