Hackensack Discussion / Overcrowding in School District
« on: March 20, 2017, 08:38:24 PM »
According to the Hackensack Superintendent's office, only 21 students were added to the school system from redevelopment.  10 from 100 Street and 11 from 414 Hackensack Avenue.  This accounts for just a small fraction of the increase of the number of students into the system over the last 8-10 years.
and if someone would do strict residency enforcement, you wouldnt have the overcrowding you have now.

wait 5 years.   then check the numbers.  414 Hackensack Ave is overrun with kids.   they are mostly not school age.    the only hope is that because most of the apartments are small, that families will outgrow the apartments and move.

the new building at 100 State st is light gauge steel.  the entire structure except for the floor.   these wooden truss buildings are built like total crap.   they look good on the outside,  but are crap behind the sheetrock.

so this means that screw the rights of those who dont want to pee next to someone of the opposite sex.   the girl who doesnt want to pee sitting next to a boy has no rights.   correct?  not getting judgmental.   just wondering.

there should be absolutely NO trees planted on the Salem St side of the 240 main st project.   the street is way too narrow to begin with and every truck will hit the trees as they are moving in the lane.

it was fun, thats for sure.   I had Euclid east of Clarendon, and the whole length of Ross.    The places people wanted the paper never happens today.   between the doors, in the milk can.  One house had me put it in the glassed in porch, and every thursday the money was there for collections.  I dont think I ever saw them!  We even had to give the mean old super in 140 Euclid a paper for free every day so he would let you in the building!

dangerous to make accusations of arson.  especially when there is absolutely no foundation for it...

great old shot.   on the left side, the corner buildings remain.  the Lyric Theater building was torn down and the one story building is there now.  moving south, the 3 story building is having a gut rehab done now, the facade was stripped off.  the old steelwork that supports the front of the building is huge.   next building south is the Kresge building, the precursor to Kmart.  and the last building in the photo on the left is the old Oddfellows building, now the junk store.   above the junk store is the original Oddfellows hall.   very few have been up there in probably 50 years.   It is absolutely amazing up there.  Hopefully if development gets moving someone will take a look at that space and do something with it.  its a step back in time.
