Title: Hudson Street question
Post by: johnny g on July 27, 2009, 08:57:22 AM
Does anyone remember the used car lot next to the bar on the corner of Hudson and Wesley streets...and if I'm not mistaken, the next side street (now called Wysocki place I think) was also named something else...can anyone help?

Wysocki used to be called Bank St. I worked at MotorAge at 20 Bank St. in 1977. I remember a grouchy old man who owned a used car lot across the street next to a bar. he always complained if we parked our cars on the street near his lot. I never saw any cars sold from that lot, just a bunch of old junk stored there. I think his name might have been Teddy?

The street now named Wysocki Place used to be called something else, and there was a bar and a used car lot right on the corner. Anyone remember the old name of the street?

Bank Street.  From the 11/4/85 Historic Meeting Minutes (http://www.hackensack.org/content/70/2684/default.aspx).

[I merged this topic with an earlier one]

once again, forgot i had posted that question already!
thanks, yes Bank St. i thought it was earlier than 1985, but i did remember it was when i was still in high school so i guess that does seem right. i used to wait for the 165 on that corner to go to school everyday.

The Bar was Pete's.....and later it was The Court House Inn....

Ok I remember it now as the Court House Inn. A few blocks up across the street there was a beverage distributor...sometimes my friends and I would grab a bottle of soda from the racks that were close to the sidewalk as we passed by  :P

I believe the beverage distributor was Seilheimer, or something like that.

Yes, Seilheimer..that's right! I remember their labels were in sort of an "old english" style font.

I found this picture in a box recently. I took it I believe around 82 or 83. There was a small used car lot right on the corner of Hudson and (then) Bank St. The Dodge Charger was my favorite car back then and my 110 camera was handy haha. I was standing on the corner facing south (rt 80 in the background). It was a block up from where I grew up on Hudson St. Anyone remember this lot, and the bar?

I remember both. I worked across the street from there about 1980, at Motor Age. I was never in the bar though.
