My understanding is that if the bike are under a certain "CC" (motor size) they are legal on city, but not county roads.

Events & Calendar / Re:7/4/04 Celebration at Forshini Park
« on: July 05, 2004, 10:28:59 PM »
As reported by The Record:

A small cluster of people turned out early for the annual festival in Hackensack's Foschini Park, with more than 10,000 expected in the evening for fireworks and an oldies concert featuring the Duprees and Cornell Gunter's Coasters.

"The concert is great - it's Fifties music - and so we listen to the music and watch the fireworks show," said Margaret Pisano of Hackensack. "People dance. It's a wonderful way to spend the holiday."

"This is America's birthday - it's a great day for a celebration like this," said Mariam Ferguson, Hackensack's superintendent of recreation and cultural events. "We're so blessed in this country. I've traveled around the world and every time I get home, I kiss the ground."

To the last post, here are some links you may wish to explore with respect to Main Street (Requires free registration with The Record- Click on any story to register):

Generally speaking, I think the prospect for a successful redevelopment of Main Street and the surrounding area is good.  Look at other stories in Citizen News Articles on the homepage for information about new residential development in that area.   Let's hope the momentum holds.

Events & Calendar / 6/16/04 - Concert at the Stealth
« on: June 16, 2004, 10:21:50 AM »
From the Record:

The Stealth, a restaurant and nightclub on Main Street, holds a fund-raiser tonight for the Hackensack School District's musical programs.

With jazz on the menu, MacVicar hopes to raise enough money to pay for five to six instruments - which cost as much as $1,500 each. But whether the event raises $600 or $6,000, she says, she'll be happy.

"It's a very helpful thing," she said. "We're just happy to take anything they can give us."

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a meet-and-greet with the featured band, the Diva Jazz Orchestra. The 14-piece, all-female band will then play jazz sets beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The event, promoted by Bassline Entertainment, also will feature jazz great Bob Cranshaw and Broadway performer Maurice Hines as hosts, said Dinu Dan, owner of The Stealth. Mayor John "Jack" Zisa will recognize Christina Chewchuk, a Hackensack High School junior, for her musical achievements, Dan said. She's due to perform in the 2005 Tournament of Roses Parade.

Tickets can be purchased by calling (201) 996-9400 or visiting www.thestealth.com.
