Seller's description:

1947 commemorative cover for the beginning of experimental helicopter airmail service

in New Jersey.

U.S. airmail envelope cancelled at Hackensack, New Jersey on January 6, 1947.

Backstamped on arrival the same day at Newark, New Jersey.

Cover is addressed to President Harry Truman.

Attractive cachet.

It also has been signed by the Hackensack Postmaster. There's an interesting line in the graphic: "Experimental Flights Via Hackensack Municipal Bus Terminal to Newark Airport, NJ".

How did that work? Was there a helipad at the bus terminal? Was mail collected at the bus terminal for copter flight to Newark?
