Kaffekat..........gosh i remember foschini park and the ice skating......and i believe as a kid it did snow more, much more then it does now...... ;D but the January storm was indeed a big one, the drifts alone covered everything... :'( now did you live on Kaplan, all i can say about Kaplan was when it rained or the snow melted alot of basements got extremely wet...especially down by the dunkin donuts where you could cut threw, now it looks like you can't even cut threw and that big wall.............i suppose that helped the water problem.... ;D

Kathleen when i read your reply on packards i started to laugh,  ahhh the escalator, so i see you to got into trouble riding that thing too huh i think they yelled at everyone..lol lol....just the smell of the place, the sawdust, the barbershop, green stamps, hair salon, well that was later on, i even ended up working there for awhile...I believe Mr Newman was my boss not really sure anymore it was so long ago, it was great.  I loved the hamburgers at the printroom as well, and of course i loved going into the garden where they sold all the flowers...great places in Hackensack we just don't appreciate it until its no longer there, how about B&W bakery....the best pecan ring and crumb cake...oh gosh i hear you on missing all the great places, nothing seems the same anymore....oh well..........life goes on.

I graduated in 75 and i think the high school was the best experience i have ever had...it prepared me for the outside world, without any hesitation or fears...and i believe its what you put into that makes all the difference.  I did my share of goofing off and i also have my regrets,  the education was there and it was excellent and i choice not always to put out what the teachers put in to it....I believe we should all be held accountable for our actions and choices, and if we go in not wanting to learn then we will not learn and its not the systems fault, its our own.........I have daughters and both attended the school systems up until we moved and i felt they received the best education possible, and with changing times i just felt that all it took to make sure there education was the best was more effort as a parent in being there for them and getting involved....which i did...the payoff was excellent...Hackensack High and Hackensack in general is the best........and i shall be back. ;D
