............."and co" had their flag at 40%-staff today? Maybe for the Joplin tornado victims?
I called the store and no one seemed to know. Great management and great measurement.
-
This is only a guess....But here goes.....
It's a brand new flag, that's obvious, possibly they installed for Memorial Day...
According to When and How to Fly the U.S.Flag... put out by the www.VFW.Org , Flag etiquette is to fly Old Glory at 1/2 staff until noon on 5-30 Memorial Day , then raised to the Top of the staff until sunset....
Maybe the installer...Has a misinterpreted idea....and will they return to raise to the top of the staff at noon...?

I think you're right.
I didn't notice that it was a new flag, but if you look at the below picture from a week ago, it looks pretty ragged in comparison.
As for them raising it at noon tomorrow...........surprise us, Sears!

Well, as of 11:30am on 5/31 (the next day), they've STILL got it at half-staff.
I guess Sears didn't read that flag etiquette book. Let's see how long it takes them to fix it.
-
They continue to be sad over at Sears - the flag STILL has not changed position!
My only guess is that 50% of the employees were fired last week, so the company is at half-staff.

12 days.
The mourning period is over at Sears as of sometime yesterday.
-
Hopefully our friends at Sears don't know something that we don't know about.
-
One of those fired employees may have been in the process of raising the flag when he got the word his services were no longer needed.

I stopped in Sear's last Saturday to buy something....and while I was there, I figured I would bring it to someones attention that they were showing disrespect to the flag by flying it at half staff...When it shouldn't be ...
I went to the 2nd floor to the managers office ....There is no managers office up there anymore....so I went downstairs and on the way down I met up with a security person...who informed me that the managers office is in the basement, in like a backroom of the tool section... and that there is no access to the public...So I brought it to his attention and he said he was going to fix it....
I guess it wasn't within his power to do so....He couldn't answer why it was being flown that way....
-
Wow - that's...................sadly pathetic.
-
Maybe there's a manager walking the aisles, try to "flag" him down.
-
Sears has a "contact us" link on their main website and I sent an email telling them of the improper way they are displaying the American flag.
Cut backs are tough on everyone but flying the flag properly is not an option. If they can't afford someone to do it right then just take down the flag pole.

You added to your karma ... with that one Hank...

The Flag was returned to full staff this past Saturday....

Actually, they finally got their act together last Tuesday, the 7th (see 6/8 post).
It only took them 12 days.
