Only five 5s? I won't say they're finally cutting down because if I do, there'll be 20 next time.

Hackensack History / Re: Demolition of The Record building

1,2. The Record lost its name from the front a while ago, but not its address.

3,4. A little more destruction was evident on the south side.

5. Tagged by the wrecking crew?

6. Although I could hear a lot of destruction going on, I couldn't see any machinery or falling debris, but I could see evidence of it on the other side of this bay.

7. Behind the southeast corner was a large pile of discarded steel girders.

8. Meanwhile, on the flip side................

1. From this angle, the Ling looks rather listless.........and loooooooong. This is - by far - my best shot/stitch of it.

Aside from the sub, there are 3 other projects in the picture: one new, one being renovated and one dying.

2. To be fair to the other side of the Court St bridge, I also took this while I was there.

Four shots from 3 projects:

1. The very first shot of the 435 Main (former Holman Moving) project, taken across Anderson St from the Second Reformed Church's parking lot. The crane's been sitting there for a couple of weeks and the sheeting (asbestos remediation?) was only there the morning I shot this and gone by afternoon.

2. Current on River from home

3. The Tyvek-ed Current on River

4. 240 Main

1. You may remember this pre- and post-demolition posting from January 2015, taken from the Hackensack River Walkway by Costco.

The rest of the photos were taken last week:

2. (also from Costco) The cranes look very far apart in this photostitch.

3. Moving around the bend in the river to the walkway behind Pep Boys makes them look a lot closer.

4. From a little further north on the same walkway, I got this long stitch of the entire scene.

5. After crossing the Court St bridge, I got this really wide stitch of the site. You can see the red top of the same fence on both sides of the image.

I may come back periodically, but I have enough projects to shoot on my side of the river.

Click to enlarge and scroll away on the stitches.

Hackensack Discussion / SEARS has filed for bankruptcy

How will we ever live without this store that nobody goes to?

Maybe this one will survive, but if not, what would you like to see take over the building? Amazon? HUMC? Maybe the Family Dollar store across the street will expand to serve the new residents of the current 435 Main project next door and the nearby 389 Main project (and maybe the sun will be green tomorrow).
