its just too bad that the person who wrote that piece didnt bother to check and see if the information was still current or not. anyone can just copy out of a book, but you would expect someone whose job it is to get the facts straight to do so.   see if you can find the outdated information in the list.

1. Fleet's been gone and so is its successor, Bank of America
2. Wally Schirra died a year or so ago, so the paragraph should read in the past tense for him.

Didn't notice it before.

Let me check- someone left this for me in my inbox on Friday, so I assume that's when it was printed.  I'll ask tomorrow.  Did anyone else see this on Friday?

Wally Schirra died a year or so ago, so the paragraph should read in the past tense for him.

What about Nelson Riddle? He died nearly a quarter of a century ago. But Debby Boone is still alive, she's in the same sentence, and the verb has to be consistent, so how can you write the sentence to reflect past and present?

Aren't ALL births in the past?

On the Sopranos ( i believe it was season 2) Burt Young plays Bobby Baccala's dad and crashes his car into a sign at the site of a former gas station on River St just south of the Rt 80 overpass after murdering someone in a house (scene shot in Garfield).

Another song that mentions Hackensack is "I've Been Everywhere" by Johnny Cash.

http://www.youtube.com/v/WoIfglXAbh0?fs=1&hl=en_US

Lyrics:

I was totin' my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road,
When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered load.
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride."
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside.
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand.
And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land!"

[Chorus:]
I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the desert's bare, man.
I've breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been everywhere.

I've been to:
Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota,
Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota,
Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma,
Tampa, Panama, Mattawa, La Paloma,
Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo,
Tocapillo, Baranquilla, and Perdilla, I'm a killer.

[Chorus]

I've been to:
Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana,
Washington, Houston, Kingston, Texarkana,
Monterey, Faraday, Santa Fe, Tallapoosa,
Glen Rock, Black Rock, Little Rock, Oskaloosa,
Tennessee, Hennessey, Chicopee, Spirit Lake,
Grand Lake, Devils Lake, Crater Lake, for Pete's sake.

[Chorus]

I've been to:
Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Ombabika,
Schefferville, Jacksonville, Waterville, Costa Rica,
Pittsfield, Springfield, Bakersfield, Shreveport,
Hackensack, Cadillac, Fond du Lac, Davenport,
Idaho, Jellico, Argentina, Diamantina,
Pasadena, Catalina, see what I mean-a.

[Chorus]

I've been to:
Pittsburgh, Parkersburg, Gravelbourg, Colorado,
Ellensburg, Rexburg, Vicksburg, Eldorado,
Larimore, Admore, Haverstraw, Chatanika,
Chaska, Nebraska, Alaska, Opelika,
Baraboo, Waterloo, Kalamazoo, Kansas City,
Sioux City, Cedar City, Dodge City, what a pity.

[Chorus]

So did Wally Schirra live here or was he just born here? If so, what street?

I was also curious about where Schirra may have lived in Hackensack, but I couldn’t find anything from a quick search of online resources.  The dedication plaque at Schirra Park simply says he “was born in Hackensack, raised in Oradell.”  The 1930 and 1940 census records also have him listed as a resident of Oradell.
